Núria Giménez Comas
Composer
Portrait Concerts:
(...) The shadows and dreams of the composer were combined, exploring the full range of sound, with slight spatial movements and distant dialogues. At the back of the chapel, with the two singers talking behind the piano, it was a shock. Hearing them in two voices or alone amidst the texts and the piano (...), I assure you that it has been one of the greatest experiences I have had at Porta Ferrada (Festival) since I came here. (...) this is what makes culture move forward, the reinterpretations of the past from the perspective of the present. Better, impossible!
David Castillo Buil, Diari de Girona
"(...) Composer Núria Giménez-Comas took center stage with three works: Quasi Notturno, Next Coming II (a world premiere), Pour apaiser le vent et les vagues (2015), and Feedback Sounds (2019).
Particularly striking were the new piece—for piano, percussion, and live electronics—and "Pour apaiser le vent et les vagues", written for ensemble. Amidst all the effervescence, they reveal a composer deeply attuned to the most delicate nuances of sound. Giménez-Comas is a sound artist and sound poet, listening to distant corners of sound, listening into expanses. All of this project new musical textures that almost borders on a new kind of Impressionism."
